ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Navy's Danielle James (Amityville, N.Y.) has been selected First-Team All-Region by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association, it was announced Monday by the CRCA office.
A four-year member of the women's crew program, James recently completed her third season with the varsity boat. The accomplishments by her crew this year include ranking sixth in the Mid-Atlantic Region and winning titles at the Murphy Cup, the Patriot League Challenge, the Navy Day Regatta and the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta.
"Danielle set a great pace for the entire boat," said Navy women's head coach Mike Hughes. "One of the reasons we had such a strong season was because she rowed so well. She set the pace and everyone followed her."
James was the lone athlete from a Patriot League school named to an all-region team, while she was one of eight athletes from the Eastern Sprints League named to the Mid-Atlantic Region's 10-member first team. She now becomes eligible for CRCA All-America honors, which will be determined after the May 28-30 NCAA National Championship in Sacramento.
