2009 Patriot League Women's Rowing Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Highlighted by Patriot League Women's Rowing Scholar-Athlete of the Year Kerry Hannon (Bethesda, Md.), Navy had six of its members recognized on the league's academic honor roll, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and earn a varsity letter. This spring, a total of 96 women's rowing student-athletes were named to the league's academic honor roll.

Hannon, who recently graduated in May, produced a 3.83 grade-point average while majoring in applied mathematics during her final semester in Annapolis to earn academic honor roll kudos for the third time in her career. Prior to the league championship, she became the third Navy rower to earn scholar-athlete of the year recognition within the last-five years. One month later, she was honored as a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine First-Team Academic All-District II Women's At Large selection.

Fellow recent graduate Gretchen Driessnack (Lovettsville, Va.), a 2009 All-Patriot League selection, produced a 3.44 grade-point average while majoring in oceanography in the spring to earn academic honor roll distinction for the second time in her career. For the third time in as many years at Navy, rising senior Kristin Lyles (Fairfax Station, Va.), a chemistry major, was named to the league's academic honor roll following her spring semester in which she earned a 3.24 grade-point average.

Three Midshipmen earned academic honor roll laurels for the first time in their careers on Wednesday. Recent graduate Kelly Pisano (Toms River, N.J.) posted a 3.59 grade-point average while majoring in aerospace engineering. Rising junior Amy Davis (Anderson, S.C.), a quantitative economics major, earned a 3.35 grade-point average and rising sophomore Christina Lanouette (Appleton, Wis.) recorded a 3.44 grade-point average during her first spring semester in Annapolis.

The Midshipmen (11-4) concluded the 2009 slate with a second-place finish at the Patriot League Championship and 12th as a team at the Eastern Sprints Championship.
