ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Towson women's golf team recorded four of the top five individual scores en route to a 23-stroke victory over the Midshipmen on a brilliant Saturday at the Naval Academy Golf Course.

The loss drops Navy's dual-meet record to 1-1 on the season.

The Tigers recorded a 342 to Navy's 365 on the par-71 course.

"The team gained some valuable experience today playing Towson. We are gaining a better understanding of what it takes to be more competitive with each tournament. I'm encouraged by the growth we have made in such a short amount of time," said Navy head coach Nadia Ste-Marie.

Towson's Larissa Spiess earned medalist honors with a 41-43=84, while three other Tigers held down three of the next four positions.

Navy's top finisher came from senior Catherine Reed (Tipp City, Ohio), who finished in a tie for second with a career-low 40-45=85. Renata Bucher (Fr. / Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished sixth with a 47-42=89 while Grace Dalton (Jr. / Malvern, Pa.) was eighth with a round of 48-45=93.

Natalie Crow (Sr. / San Jose, Calif.) rounded out Navy's scoring with a round of 48-50=98.

Also for Navy, Jennifer Coletta (Fr. / Nashua, N.H.) tallied a 54-53=107, Christina Carson (Sr. / Woodbury Heights, N.J.) recorded a 55-58=113, Melia Mae-Lagat (Fr. / Bremerton, Wash.) shot a 60-54=114 and Gina Grabowski (Jr. / Lawrenceville, N.J.) shot a 59-70=129. The quartet was not part of Navy's counting squad.

Navy will return to action next weekend at the UNCW Lady Seahawk Classic in Wilmington, N.C., beginning on Friday.
