WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Navy women's golf team recorded its best round of the weekend on Sunday to wrap up competition at the UNC Wilmington Seahawk Classic at River Landing Golf Club.
The teams played 36 holes on Saturday and 18 on Sunday. The Mids placed 14th after recording scores of 392 and 390 on Saturday and a 385 on Sunday.
Navy totaled a three-round total of 1,167. Old Dominion won the title with a total of 917. Fellow Patriot League member Bucknell was 13th with a score of 1,007.
"River Landing Golf Club is a wonderful golf course and proved to be a difficult challenge for us. It played long and almost every hole has a water hazard in play," said Navy head coach Nadia Ste-Marie. "The team struggled a bit with some of the more challenging holes. We had many learning opportunities during this 54-hole event as we continue to grow and develop stronger games."
Freshman Renata Bucher (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the way shooting rounds of 88, 88 and 83 for a 54-hole total of 259. Senior Catherine Reed (Tipp City, Ohio) followed with scores of 89, 95 and 96 for a 280.
Grace Dalton (Jr. / Malvern, Pa.) followed with a 310 (111-101-98) and Natalie Crow (Sr. / San Jose, Calif.) rounded out Navy's counting scores with a 318 (104-106-108).
UNC Greensboro's Fanny Cnops earned medalist honors with a two-over par 218 (74-72-72).
Navy returns to action next weekend when it hosts St. Francis Brooklyn and Delaware State at the Naval Academy Golf Course.
