UPPER SAUCON, Pa. - Navy sophomore Renata Bucher earned a spot on the All-Patriot League Second Team by placing in a tie for seventh with a 238 (+22) at the Patriot League Women's Golf Championship at the par-72 5,990-yard Saucon Valley Country Club on Sunday.

As a team, Navy placed fourth with a three-round total of 1028 (344-332-352). Bucknell won the team championship with a 930 to edge out second-place Boston University (933) by just three strokes. Host Lehigh was third with a 939 and was followed by Navy (1028) and Holy Cross (1174).

"It is hard to believe our second season has come to an end," head coach Nadia Ste-Marie said. "We were very fortunate with the mild weather this weekend but the winds were strong and at times difficult to judge. The team struggled a bit today on the greens. The putts just weren't dropping.

"Overall we had a nice spring semester, with several personal and team bests. I am looking forward to building on the fundamentals we have developed this season to help the team better compete in the fall."

Bucher's score of 238 was the best three-round total of her career. Bucher shot a pair of 79s in Navy's first two rounds on Saturday and closed with an 80 on Sunday. Bucher becomes the first Navy women's golfer to earn all-conference honors.

Freshman Katie Ryall placed 16th with an overall score of 247. Ryall entered the final day in ninth place after shooting an 83 and a 77 on Saturday, but dropped seven spots after carding an 87 on Sunday.

Freshman Marci Browning placed 21st with a 271 (89-87-95) and senior Grace Dalton placed 22nd with a 273 (93-89-91). Sophomore Melia Lagat rounded out Navy's contingent with a 282 (94-94-94) to finish in a tie for 24th place.

Lehigh's Crystal Lee was named the Patriot League Golfer of the Year by placing first with an 8-over par 224 (75-73-76). Boston University's Adela Cejnarova was the Patriot League Rookie of the Year by finishing as the top freshman with her fifth-place showing of 235 (79-80-76). Boston University's Bruce Chalas was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year.

Navy has now concluded its second season of intercollegiate varsity women's golf.
