Frazier Receives WGCA All-America Scholar Honors
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Navy women’s golfer Morgan Frazier has been named to the 2017 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar List. Frazier is one of 952 women's collegiate golfers to be recognized with this honor this season.
Frazier, a rising sophomore, had a 3.89 cumulative grade-point average after her freshman year and she was also named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. She is majoring in operations research.
Frazier’s 2016-17 scoring average of 80.3 was the second-lowest average in program history, behind only teammate Christine Walker’s scoring average of 80.1 this season.
Frazier was the individual medalist at the 10-team, 59-player Seahawk Spring Invitational this season with a two-round score of 150 (73-77; +6). Additionally, the 150 was the lowest 36-hole score in Navy program history.
She was Navy’s top finisher at the Quinnipiac Classic, where she took fourth place with a three-round score of 241 (77-83-81; +31). She was also Navy's top finisher at the Low Country Intercollegiate, placing 13th with a 160 (80-80; +16).
Frazier competed in all 10 of Navy’s tournaments during the 2016-17 season and also played at the No. 2 position in the Navy-Citadel dual match.
Frazier becomes the second Mid to be named to the WGCA Scholar All-America List. 2016 graduate Renata Bucher was a four-time honoree.
The minimum cumulative grade-point average needed to be eligible for the All-American Scholar Team is 3.50.
