Bucher Named a Women's Collegiate Golf All-American Scholar

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy women's golfer Renata Bucher has been named an All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). Bucher is one of 664 women's collegiate golfers from Division I, II & III that received the accolade.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team is a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
This past season, as a sophomore, Bucher was named to the Patriot League Women's Golf All-Academic Team and the Patriot League Women's Golf Academic Honor Roll in 2013-14. Bucher was also named to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team in 2012-13.
Bucher carries a 3.81 cumulative grade-point average as an ocean engineering major. She has been named to the Superintendent's List and the Commandant's List in each of her first four semesters at the Naval Academy.
Bucher serves as the treasurer of the Class of 2016 and she will be the Brigade Sergeant Major in the Fall 2014 semester. She ranks second out of the 1,133 members of the Class of 2016 in Military Order of Merit.
Bucher earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors this season by tying for seventh place at the Patriot League Women's Golf Championship with an overall score of 238 (79-79-80).
Bucher led Navy in stroke average (81.5) for the second straight season and had four top-10 finishes in the last five events of the season. Bucher was the individual medalist at the Navy Spring Classic and was the individual runner-up at the Bulldog Florida Invitational.
