Women’s Golf to Compete at the Sacred Heart Classic this Sunday-Monday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women’s golf team will compete at the Sacred Heart Classic at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn. this Sunday-Monday. The 36-hole tournament will feature 18 holes on Sunday, beginning at 11:40 AM, and 18 holes on Monday, beginning at 10:30 AM. There will not be live scoring.

Sacred Heart will field both an “A” and “B” team, while Navy, Fairfield, Hofstra, Monmouth, St. Francis Brooklyn and Division II Post University will also compete in the eight-team field.

Navy’s lineup at the Sacred Heart Classic will consist of freshman Christine McDonnell, sophomore Morgan Frazier, senior Christine Walker, freshman Elizabeth Park and sophomore Micah Vincent. Senior Legare Augenstein will be competing as an individual.

Frazier leads Navy this season with a scoring average of 75.8, while McDonnell is second with a 76.0 and Walker is third at 76.8.

Park will see her first action of the 2017-18 season, as she was injured during Navy’s first two tournaments this fall.

Navy will be competing for the first time since Sept. 17, when the Mids placed second at the Navy Fall Invitational with a 915 (307-300-308; +51). McDonnell placed second individually at the tournament with a school-record 219 (75-68-76; +3).

In its only other tournament of the fall, Navy placed third out of nine teams at the Tignanelli Towson Invite on Sept. 11 with a 624 (310-314; +48). Frazier led Navy with a sixth-place score of 152 (72-80; +8).



Through two tournaments and five rounds, Navy’s team average this season is a 307.8, down from a 322.2 in 2016-17.

Navy will be competing in the Sacred Heart Classic for the second year in a row. Navy placed second of five teams at the event last year. Sacred Heart won the team title with a 623 (310-313; +47), while Navy was second with a 649 (327-322; +73) and Hartford was third with a 667 (326-341; +91). Walker placed third individually at the tournament with a 155 (77-78; +11).

Navy’s final tournament of the fall season will be the Delaware Invitational at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club from Oct. 21-22.
