Annapolis, Md. - Twenty-one members of the Navy women's lacrosse program conducted a lacrosse clinic at the all-girls Excel Academy in Washington, D.C. last week.
The defending Patriot League Champions taught the children basic lacrosse skills and also organized drills, relay races and informal games.
"Seeing the smiles on their faces was an amazing feeling," said senior Katrina Nietsch, who organized the team's participation in the event. "Sharing any type of sport in a capacity where you can contribute to the community is truly fulfilling, and also a lot of fun. It feels great to be able to reach out to the community and it made me realize all that we have to offer to those around us."
Preseason practice is underway for the women's lacrosse team and the Mids will open the 2011 season at home against Mount St. Mary's on February 11.
