CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
Sophomore goalie Annie Foky
(Charlottesville, Va.) has been named the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Navy (4-0) also moved up from No. 20 to No. 19 in this week's national deBeer Media Poll.
Foky started her first two career games last week and helped Navy post a 15-6 win over High Point and a 16-4 win over Monmouth.
Foky had a breakout performance in her first career start against High Point, making 11 saves with three ground balls and a caused turnover while playing the full 60 minutes. Foky's performance helped Navy avenge a 2012 loss at High Point.
Foky followed the High Point game by limiting Monmouth to just one goal in 50 minutes of action. She had two saves against the Hawks to go along with four ground balls and a caused turnover.
On the week, Foky was 2-0 with a 3.80 goals-against average in 110 minutes. She posted a .650 save percentage and had 6.5 saves per game.
Foky currently leads the Patriot League in both goals-against average (4.40) and save percentage (.593). Navy has the league's top-ranked scoring defense, allowing just 5.25 goals per game.
Navy will next host Richmond on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
