Larkin Named Patriot League Attacker of the Week
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy women's lacrosse sophomore Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) was named Patriot League Attacker of the Week, as announced by the conference office. It is the first PL Attacker of the Week accolade of Larkin's career, but the eighth conference weekly award for the sophomore who registered a Patriot League record seven Rookie of the Week honors last season.
Larkin helped Navy to an 11-10 come-from-behind victory over Michigan on Sunday afternoon. She recorded a team-best five points, netting a team-high four goals to go along with an assist. The Alexandria, Va. native registered her second hat-trick of the season and the 12th of her career.
She scored three of her goals in the second half, helping Navy overcome a four-goal deficit. Her first goal tied the game at 2-2 in the first half, while her second goal pulled the Mids to within one early in the second half at 4-3.
Down 7-3, Larkin spurred a 5-1 run with a goal to trim the margin to 7-4. She ended the 5-1 run with a goal to knot the game at 8-8 with 8:05 remaining in the game. Larkin also had an assist on Andie O'Sullivan's goal during the run that pulled the Midshipmen to within one at 8-7.
Navy returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 27, as the Midshipmen travel to Chestnut Hill, Mass. to take on Boston College in a rematch of last year's NCAA Semifinal game. The Mids and Eagles are set to take the field at 1:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra and live stats will be available.
