CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – No. 19/11 Navy women’s lacrosse duo of Loren Generi (Jr., Bayport, N.Y.) and Jill Coughlin (Sr., Annapolis, Md.) garnered Patriot League Weekly honors, announced by the league office Monday.
The Patriot League is recognizing Generi for her stellar play for the second time this season, first as the Offensive Player of the Week. On the offensive end, the junior attacker tallied her sixth and seventh straight games with at least five points, recording six points on two goals and four assists versus GW and five points on two goals on three assists against Lafayette. The Bayport, N.Y. native tallied four ground balls, 10 draw controls and two caused turnovers in two games in the midfield. Generi leads the nation in assists per game (3.71) and points per game (7.29) and is 14th in goals per game (3.57).
Coughlin’s seven total goals last week earned her Midfield Player of the Week for the first time in her career. The senior midfielder tied her career best five goals against George Washington in Navy’s 14-8 win over the Colonials. Coughlin then recorded two goals in the Mids following win over Lafayette, 11-5. The Annapolis, Md. native has strung together 10-straight games with at least one goal, which is Navy’s second longest active streak behind Aimee Gennaro’s 22-straight games.
Following Navy’s 2-0 record last week, the Mids moved up in both national polls. Navy jumped one spot in the IWLCA Coaches’ Poll to No. 19 and two spots in the Inside Women’s Lacrosse Brine Media Poll to No. 11.
Navy looks to extend its perfect record to 8-0 for the first time in program history on Saturday, March 15 against Bucknell. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pa.
