Navy recently won its third straight game on Wednesday, picking up a 9-6 road win at Atlantic 10-member George Washington. Senior attacker Jasmine DePompeo (Sayville, N.Y.) was involved in eight of Navy's nine scoring plays as she tallied eight points on four goals and four assists. DePompeo got other players involved early, assisting on Navy's first three goals. She took over the goal-scoring duty later, scoring Navy's final three goals of the contest.
DePompeo is the current Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and she leads the NCAA in points per game with a 6.50 average. Through 10 games DePompeo has scored 65 points on 33 goals and 32 assists. DePompeo's 33 goals have come on just 47 shots and she is shooting a .702 percentage on the season. DePompeo scored 99 points in 2011 and 92 in 2012, but the two-time Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year is on pace for her best season yet in 2013.
Sophomore goalie Annie Foky (Charlottesville, Va.) had another strong game against George Washington, holding the Colonials to just six goals. Foky is 7-1 with a 6.80 goals-against average and a .481 save percentage. Foky has helped Navy hold eight opponents to single digit goals this season. Through its first six seasons, Navy is 64-0 when holding opponents to under 10 goals.
Navy leads the all-time series against Lafayette, 5-0. The Mids defeated the Leopards in 2012 in Easton, Pa., 18-7, and won the 2011 meeting in Annapolis, 17-7. Navy enters the game having won 12 straight against Patriot League opponents.
Lafayette comes to Annapolis at 6-4 overall and 0-1 in Patriot League play. Lafayette fell to Holy Cross, 20-10, in its league opener on March 9. Lafayette has lost two straight, falling to Delaware, 19-7, last Saturday and La Salle, 11-8, on Tuesday.
Lafayette was 9-8 overall in 2012 and tied for fifth place in the Patriot League with a 2-4 conference mark. The Leopards return two All-Patriot League First-Team players in senior attacker Addie Godfrey and junior midfielder Ana White.
Godfrey ranks in the top five in the country with 36 goals. White is second on the team with 23 goals and has a team-high 16 assists. White also leads the team with 57 draw controls
Navy will next host UC Davis in a non-conference game on Wednesday at 4:00 PM. It will be the first meeting between the Mids and the Aggies.
