March 31, 2014
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Navy women’s lacrosse freshman midfielder Aislinn Probst (Arnold, Md.) was tabbed Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday.
Probst led Navy’s defense in a dominant 13-2 win over Colgate last Saturday. The freshman midfielder had game highs in both ground balls (4) and caused turnovers (3). Probst helped the Mids hold Colgate's Megan Ark, who came in with 29 goals on the season, to no points in the contest. Navy shut out a Patriot League opponent in the first half for the third time this season.
Navy’s defense is currently one of the best in the nation, allowing a nation-low 5.00 goals per game. The Mids have not allowed its first 11 opponents score more than nine goals.
Navy will play two non-conference contests this week. The Mids will face San Diego State on Wednesday, April 2 at 3 p.m. and Michigan on Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m. Navy will honor its seniors before the beginning of Saturday’s contest.
