Collins Takes Patriot League Midfielder of the Week Honor Again
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – For the second time this season and the ninth time in her career, Navy women’s lacrosse’s Jenna Collins (Clarksville, Md.) has been named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week, as announced by the conference office.
Collins scored 11 goals, dished out three assists, had 10 draw controls and picked up four ground balls to help Navy defeat Lehigh (W, 18-7) and Holy Cross (W, 19-7) last week. The senior tied for the team lead in points with 14, scoring 11 goals and adding three assists. The Clarksville, Md. native had a hat trick in both games, raising her season total to 11 games (every game this season). In addition, Collins grabbed four ground balls, while coming away with 10 draw controls.
She opened the week with a career-high seven goals and an assist for eight total points in a victory over Lehigh. Collins also had seven draw controls and a ground ball against the Mountain Hawks. Against Holy Cross, the senior midfielder had six points on four goals and two assists in the road win, which was the 500th career win for Navy head coach Cindy Timchal. Collins posted three ground balls and three draw controls against the Crusaders.
For the week, Collins averaged 5.50 goals, 1.50 assists, and 7.00 points per game.
Navy returns to action on Saturday, April 7, as the Midshipmen take on Loyola (Md.) in a first-place Patriot League match up. Opening draw is slated for 1:00 p.m. Free live stats and free live video will be available for the game.
