ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After helping Navy (14-1, 5-0 PL) earn a 12-6 win over Colgate last Saturday, senior attacker Jasmine DePompeo (Sayville, N.Y.) and sophomore goalie Annie Foky (Charlottesville, Va.) have received weekly honors.
DePompeo has been named the Naval Academy Athletic Association Athlete of the Week presented by Rolls-Royce and Foky has been named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week.
DePompeo scored seven points in the win against Colgate on two goals and five assists. The senior co-captain became the Patriot League's all-time leading scorer against Colgate and currently has 314 points on 159 goals and 155 assists.
DePompeo leads the NCAA in points per game (7.00) and assists per game (3.93), while also leading the country in total points (105) and total assists (59). DePompeo's 59 assists are a Patriot League single-season record and the eighth-best single-season total in NCAA history.
Foky made nine saves and scooped two ground balls while allowing five goals to improve to 12-1 on the season. Foky helped Navy hold its 12th opponent to single digit goals this season.
Foky is ranked fourth in the NCAA in goals-against average at 6.87 and ninth in save percentage at .476. She leads the Patriot League in both categories.
Foky earns the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week award for the fourth time this season.
Navy remained at No. 12 in this week's deBeer Media Poll. Navy was slotted at No. 13 in last week's IWLCA Coaches Poll. This week's edition of the coaches poll will be released on Tuesday.
Navy will host Jacksonville on Friday at 4:00 PM for Senior Day. The Mids will close the regular season on Sunday at American at 12 noon. Both Navy and American are 5-0 in conference play and the winner will be crowned the league's regular season champion and will host the postseason tournament.
