Gennaro Named NAAA Athlete of the Week
April 18, 2014
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy women's lacrosse senior co-captain Aimee Gennaro (Havertown, Pa.) has been named NAAA Athlete of the week, present by Rolls-Royce, for the week ending April 13.
Gennaro became the program's leader in goals, following a four-goal performance in the win against Lehigh last Wednesday. The senior attacker surpassed Erin Rawlick's mark of 199 with her first goal of the contest against the Mountain Hawks. Gennaro then scored the eventual game-winning goal against Holy Cross with 19:56 left in the second half last Saturday to clinch a first-round bye in the Patriot League Tournament.
The Havertown, Pa. native's 204 career goals place her fourth all-time in the Patriot League. She has 35 goals this season, which is currently fifth-best in the Patriot League. Gennaro's 13 career game-winning goals is the most in Navy women's lacrosse history.
Navy looks for its third-straight Patriot League Regular-Season Title Saturday against No. 14/15 Loyola at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
