SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Bucknell women's lacrosse team is headed back to the postseason for the second straight year.
The Bison saw their three-game winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night with a 15-8 setback at first-place Loyola at the Ridley Athletic Center, but other results around the league clinched the Patriot League Tournament berth.
Against Loyola, senior Courtney Burke recorded her first career hat trick as part of a four-point night for the Bison, who fell to 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the Patriot League.
Bucknell fell into a tie for fifth place in the Patriot League alongside Boston University. The top six teams qualify for the Patriot League Tournament. The bottom four teams in the standings are all now 1-6, meaning the Bison have a three-game lead over their closest pursuers with only two games remaining.
Navy leads the all-time series with Bucknell, 9-0. The Mids are 4-0 against the Bison in Annapolis.
All nine meetings between the two teams have come in the regular season. The two teams have yet to meet up against each other in the Patriot League Tournament.
The Mids have outscored the Bison, 144-61 all-time in the series, including 84-30 in Annapolis.
Navy won the first match up between the two teams, claiming an 18-11 victory in Annapolis in 2008.
Last season, the Mids escaped Lewisburg, Pa. with an 11-10 win over the Bison.
The last time the two teams met at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Navy posted a 21-4 victory during the 2015 season.
