CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy women's lacrosse tallied four to the 2014 All-Patriot League squad, announced by the league office Monday.
Junior attacker Loren Generi (Bayport, N.Y.) headlined for Navy, as she was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for the second-straight season. Seniors Aimee Gennaro (Havertown, Pa.) and Jill Coughlin (Annapolis, Md.) and sophomore Lizzy Rullan (Setauket, N.Y.) were placed on the All-Patriot League Second Team.
Generi redefined her role on the team this season and became a threat in all facets of the game. The junior attacker leads Navy in points (78), goals (44), assists (34), draw controls (100) and ground balls (28). Her 34 assists and 78 points are both career bests. The Bayport, N.Y native recorded 100 draw controls for the third time in her career and became just the second player in the Patriot League history to eclipse over 300 draw controls.
Gennaro earned All-Patriot League Second Team laurels for her consistent goal-scoring abilities. The Havertown, Pa. native is sixth in the league in scoring at 2.25 goals per clip. Gennaro became Navy's all-time leader in goals and is currently fourth all-time in the Patriot League with 205. The senior attacker recorded a streak of 28-straight games with at least one goal that dated back to March 9, 2013 and was snapped on April 5, 2014. She is second on the team in points (58) and goals (36).
Coughlin garnered All-Patriot League honors for the first time in her career. As an offensive midfielder, Coughlin is tied for ninth in the league in the scoring at 2.06 goals per game. Coughlin has not only helped lead her team on and off the field as a co-captain, but she recorded the last-second game-winning goal against Lehigh in overtime.
As Navy's defensive catalyst, Rullan was named an All-Patriot League Second Team member for the first time. The sophomore defender has helped anchor a Navy defense that has held 15 of 16 opponents under 10 goals. Rullan and the Navy defense are currently the third stingiest defense in the country, allowing 6.13 goals per game. Rullan's 19 draw controls and seven caused turnovers are both career bests.
Navy earned the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The Mids will play the highest remaining seed from the Patriot League Quarterfinals on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Baltimore, Md., hosted by Loyola (Md.).
