Larkin, Collins Named to Final Four All-Tournament Team
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Navy women’s lacrosse’s Kelly Larkin (Alexandria, Va.) and Julia Collins (Clarksville, Md.) were named to the 2017 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Championship All-Tournament Team as announced by the NCAA.
Larkin led the Midshipmen with six points against Boston College in the Final Four. The freshman scored a career-high six goals in the Mids’ first ever NCAA Semifinal appearance. Larkin tallied eight shots on the night with six shots on goal. She caused a turnover and was 1-for-1 in free-position attempts. Larkin finished the NCAA Tournament with 24 points, netting 14 goals and adding 10 assists.
Collins tallied three points in the game against the Eagles. The junior scored two goals and added an assist. Collins posted a game-high six draw controls to lead both teams. For the entire NCAA Tournament, Collins scored a team-high 14 goals while adding an assist for 15 total points.
Navy finished the season 18-5 overall. The Midshipmen won the 2017 Patriot League Championship to earn the League’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Mids opened the NCAA Tournament by defeating No. 7 Penn (W, 11-10) in the first round – the first win against a ranked opponent in school history. Navy made history once again with a 23-11 victory over UMass to advance to the program’s first ever NCAA Quarterfinal. In the quarters, the Midshipmen upset No. 2 seed and defending National Champion North Carolina to reach the NCAA Semifinals at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Navy was edged, 16-15, in the Final Four to NCAA Tournament Runner-Up Boston College.
