ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy women’s lacrosse seniors Aimee Gennaro (Havertown, Pa.) and Kelsey Henshaw (Chester, Md.) were named to the 22-player Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Division I South Squad for the 2014 IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star game, announced by the IWLCA organization.
This is the second-straight season that Navy has earned two selections for the senior all-star game in one year. Former players Jasmine DePompeo and Brijet Mall both represented Navy in last season’s all-stra game. Kierstin King (2012), Caitlin Mandrin Hill (2011) and Amanda Towey (2008) have also competed in the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game in recent years.
Gennaro, a two-time All-Patriot League Second Team selection, concluded her career at the Naval Academy as the program’s leading goal scorer with 208. She is the only player in program history to have eclipsed the 200-goal mark. The senior attacker recorded 57 multi-goal games in 80 career contests at Navy. Her streak of 28 consecutive games with at least one goal ranks third all-time at Navy behind DePompeo’s 29 and Erin Rawlick’s 50.
Henshaw became a full-time starting defender her junior season. In two seasons, she started in 34 of 36 games and accrued 41 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers and 16 draw controls. The senior defender helped anchor a Navy defense that allowed the third-lowest goals-against average in the nation at 6.53 goals per game this season.
Gennaro and Henshaw led Navy's Class of 2014 to three Patriot League titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances. The senior teammates guided the Mids to a 66-14 overall record in four seasons.
The 2014 North-South Division I game will take place Saturday at Cabrini College, in Radnor, Pa. at 11:30 a.m.
