CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Fifteen members of the Navy women's lacrosse program have been named to the 2010 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, it was announced recently.
Mary Ruttum (Annapolis, Md.), the 2010 Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, highlights the list of honorees. Ruttum, a three-time honor roll recipient, earned a 3.94 grade-point average during the spring and a 3.74 cumulative average during her four-year tenure as a Midshipman.
She was one of three recent graduates to earn academic kudos for the spring semester, along with All-American and 2010 national scoring leader Erin Rawlick (Forest Hill, Md.) and two-sport standout Shelly Moeller (Milford, Ohio).
Three-time All-Patriot League midfielder Katrina Nietsch (New Canaan, Conn.), who posted a 3.65 GPA while majoring in quantitative economics during the spring, was also recognized for her standout efforts in the classroom for the third time in as many seasons.
Both Rawlick and rising junior Laura Nevin (Hampstead, Md.), meanwhile, were both honored for the second time.
To be eligible for the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average during the spring semester. Student-athletes representing all four classes are eligible for the award.
