CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Navy women's lacrosse team had 17 student-athletes named to the Patriot League Women's Lacrosse Academic Honor Roll, as announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Lacrosse athletes from the 10 league schools needed to attain at least a 3.20 grade-point average for the 2017 spring semester to earn the laurel. One-hundred and seventy-four (174) women's lacrosse student-athletes were named to the honor roll, including 13 who posted a 4.00 GPA for the grading period. The Midshipmen tallied 17 total student-athletes on the honor roll, including three with a 4.00 GPA.

Highlighting the Mids' recipients were Caitlin McGlaughlin (State College, Pa.), Mackenzie Orr (Berwyn, Pa.), and Anne Richter (Hinsdale, Ill.). The trio all recorded a 4.00 GPA during the spring semester.

McGlaughlin ('18) and Orr ('18) are both majoring in operations research, while Richter ('19) is a mechanical engineering major. McGlaughlin played in and stared every game during the 2017 season, serving as one of the anchors on the Navy defense. Orr served as a key reserve, playing in 14 games in 2017, including each game during the Midshipmen's historic NCAA Tournament run. Richter, a midfielder who played in nine games last season, has been a member of the Superintendent's List each semester since coming to the Academy.

Navy women's lacrosse finished the season 18-5 overall. The Midshipmen won the 2017 Patriot League Championship to earn the League's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Mids opened the NCAA Tournament by defeating No. 7 Penn (W, 11-10) in the first round -- the first win against a ranked opponent in school history. Navy made history once again with a 23-11 victory over UMass to advance to the program's first ever NCAA Quarterfinal. In the quarters, the Midshipmen upset No. 2 seed and defending National Champion North Carolina to reach the NCAA Semifinals at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Navy was edged, 16-15, in the Final Four to NCAA Tournament Runner-Up Boston College.
