Women's Lacrosse Releases 2018 Schedule
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- On the heels of the program's first appearance in the NCAA Final Four, the Navy women's lacrosse team officially announced its 2018 schedule. The Midshipmen play 17 regular season games, including eight home games. In addition, Navy will play a neutral site game at the US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md.
"We are very excited about our schedule, which has a new look," head coach Cindy Timchal said. "We have worked hard in the fall to prepare for a tough spring season. We are extremely excited about our Big Ten opener with Ohio State and then continue with a tough nonconference stretch. In conference, the Patriot League always presents a challenge with many wonderful opponents."
Navy opens up the season with three home games. The Midshipmen welcome Big Ten opponent Ohio State on Saturday, Feb. 10 to officially open the season. One week later, the Mids play host to Columbia. On Sunday, Feb. 25, Navy takes on Big Ten foe Michigan in a game at Rip Miller Turf Field.
The Midshipmen travel to 2017 NCAA runner-up Boston College on Tuesday, Feb. 27, before taking on Winthrop at the US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. on March 2.
The Mids will play at St. Joseph's (March 7) and at Florida (March 13) before returning to Annapolis to begin Patriot League competition.
On Saturday, March 17, Navy opens up conference play with a home game against Colgate. The Mids travel to Bucknell on Saturday, March 24 before hosting Lehigh on Wednesday, March 28.
After playing at Holy Cross (March 31), the Midshipmen host Loyola on Saturday, April 7 and ACC rival Virginia on Wednesday, April 11.
On Saturday, April 14, the Mids travel to West Point, N.Y. to take on the Black Knights of Army. For the first time in program history, the game will be a part of the Army-Navy Star Series Presented by USAA.
Following the Army-Navy tilt, the Midshipmen conclude the road portion of the regular season with a pair of games against American (April 18) and Lafayette (April 21).
Navy concludes the regular season at home against Boston University on Saturday, April 28.
The Patriot League Tournament will feature six teams with the top two seeds receiving a bye, while quarterfinal contests will be played between the 3-6 and 4-5 seeds on Tuesday, May 1. The Patriot League semifinals will be played on Friday, May 4 at the site of the top seed with the championship slated for Sunday, May 6. Navy owns a 14-5 all-time record in the Patriot League Tournament with five tournament titles to its credit, including winning last season.
