16 Navy Athletes Selected for Second Semester Leadership Roles within Brigade
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – With the second semester beginning this week at the United States Naval Academy, a wide variety of the student-athletes representing Navy Athletics are featured in leadership positions within the Brigade of Midshipmen. Led by women’s rower Anna Paz, the second semester Brigade Commander, a total of 16 Navy student-athletes have been selected.
Other varsity athletes selected for leadership positions include: K. Parriott of the offshore sailing team (First Regiment Commander), Tara Dotzauer of the volleyball team (First Regiment XO), Micah Thomas of the football team (Second Regiment Commander), Eli Wood of the heavyweight crew team (Second Regiment XO), Zerek Olson of the heavyweight crew team (First Battalion Commander), Winn Howard of the football team (Third Battalion Commander), Molly Kuenstler of the women’s swim team (Fifth Battalion Commander), Jadaen Bernstein of the wrestling team (Brigade SHAPE Executive Officer), Gabe Gaspar of the water polo team (Fifth Company Commander), Josh Calderon of the men’s soccer team (Eighth Company Commander), Isabelle Babb of the women’s crew team (10th Company Commander), Megan Rogers of women’s soccer (14th Company Commander), Austin Rogers of the sprint football team (23rd Company Commander), Alex Hoiles of the women’s swim team (28th Company Commander) and Ellie Deglau of the women’s swim team (Brigade Sergeant Major).
As the Brigade Commander, Paz, a four-year member of the women’s rowing program, is responsible for much of the Brigade’s day-to-day activities, as well as the professional training of the midshipmen. She was chosen to lead the 4,400-person Brigade of Midshipmen as a result of her outstanding leadership performances over her first seven semesters in Annapolis.
