Women's Rowing Heads to D.C. for George Washington Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Navy women's rowing team will look to continue its string outstanding spring performances with two days of action on the Potomac River in the George Washington Invitational. Beginning on Friday afternoon at 1:40 p.m., the Mids will face Georgetown, George Washington and Duquesne in a trio of head-to-head races. Saturday's action kicks off at 8:00 a.m. and concludes at 1:00 p.m.
The 2,000-meter course will begin near the Spout Run area of the Potomac River with the finish line at Washington Harbour (3050 K Street, NW) in Georgetown.
Navy's varsity eight, second varsity eight, novice eight and varsity four `A' and `B' boats will all compete on Friday afternoon against Georgetown in a trio of races beginning at 1:40 p.m.
On Saturday morning, the Mids and host Colonials will face off in four events starting at 8:00 a.m. with the third varsity race that will feature Navy's novice eight team. The next three competitions will consist of varsity four, second varsity eight and varsity eight racing.
To close the day, Navy will trot its largest lineup out on the Potomac as six crews will race over four events. The Mids' V8, 2V8, Novice 8 and all three V4 boats will see action.
The women's field of Navy, George Washington, MIT, Saint Joseph's, Georgetown and Duquesne will all vie for the Howard W. Wilkins Bowl as the event's overall winner.
The Mids are the defending champion at the Invitational after winning eight of their nine races at the 2013 event. Navy went six-for-six in competitions with George Washington and Georgetown last April.
