Last Year at the Eastern Sprints
Navy sent its varsity four, second varsity eight and third varsity eight boats to the petite finals at last season's Eastern Sprints. The Mids' varsity four crew beat out Northeastern by two seconds to take first place in its petite final race.
The Last Time Out
The Mids took second place overall at the Patriot League Championships on April 29. Navy won the second varsity eight race, placed second in the varsity four race and then took third in the varsity eight competition. Navy's title in the second varsity is the fourth in program history and first since 2008. Navy has now had at least one boat win a Patriot League title in three consecutive seasons.
Quoting the Coach
Head coach Mike Hughes' on Sunday's EAWRC Sprints...
"The competition will definitely be tough, but if we have a great race, I think we can go in the top three. Our varsity eight boat (19-4) and second varsity eight boat (22-2) have both had good seasons and we're looking to finish with our best races."
