ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
Navy women's rowers Katherine Ashton and Katie Quinn have been named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday. Ashton was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region first team while Quinn was voted to the second team.
Both Ashton and Quinn are a part of Navy's varsity eight crew, which went 5-0 this season and won the Patriot League championship. The duo will be back in action again this weekend when Navy takes part in the NCAA Championships, May 31 - June 2.
Ashton is a two-year member of the varsity eight crew and has rowed in the sixth seat this season. Last week the junior was named to the All-Patriot League first team, while last season she garnered CRCA All-America second team accolades.
Quinn, a sophomore, is also in her second year as part of the Mids' varsity eight crew. The native of Lighthouse, Point, Fla., has rowed in the stroke seat this season and was voted to the All-Patriot League first team earlier this season.
Student-athletes nominated for CRCA All-Region accolades are evaluated on the strength of their team's regional finish, coaches recommendations and 2,000-meter erg score. Nominees must be eligible student-athletes who have competed in their teams' varsity boat in 75 percent of races this season.
By being named all-region, both Ashton and Quinn are now eligible for CRCA All-America honors, which will be announced after the NCAA Championships.
