Navy Women's Soccer Places Eight on Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The 2012 Patriot League Regular Season Champion Navy women's soccer team (19-2-1, 6-0-1 PL) has placed eight Mids on the league's academic honor roll, the conference office announced today.
A total of 98 student-athletes in the Patriot League were named to the academic honor roll for women's soccer this year. Players must have earned a minimum 3.20 grade-point average during the fall semester to earn a spot on the list.
Headlining the group is junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Hoerner, who had a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester as an oceanography (honors) major. Hoerner was named to the NSCAA Scholar All-America First Team and was the Patriot League Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Hoerner was also a standout on the playing field, as she was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a 17-2-1 record and a 1.06 goals-against average.
Senior midfielder Brittany Fruin, who has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District squad in each of the last two seasons, achieved a 3.93 GPA in the fall semester as an oceanography (honors) major.
Hoerner and Fruin both made the honor roll for the third consecutive year.
All three of Navy's seniors made the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. In addition to Fruin, senior captain Kelsey Learned had a 3.82 GPA and senior midfielder Fallon Puppolo (3.63 GPA) made the honor roll for the second straight year.
Sophomore forward Caprice Kelty is a repeat selection to the academic honor roll and junior defender Emily Wilkin, sophomore midfielder Rachel Hunter and freshman Nikki Peterson all make their first appearance.
