Seabrook Garners Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Laurel
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy women’s soccer senior defender Jade Seabrook (St. Paris, Ohio) was named to Top Drawer Soccer Preseason Best XI Second Team, announced by the soccer website Tuesday. The Best XI first team, second team, third team and freshmen team are made up of three forwards, four midfielders, three defenders and one goalkeeper.
Seabrook, a two-time NSCAA All-American, was the only Patriot League student-athlete to be named to either the first, second, third or freshmen Best XI teams. Top Drawer Soccer also tabbed her as one of the top 10 women’s soccer defenders this past spring.
The St. Paris, Ohio, native continued to cement her place as one of Navy’s top defenders, earning Third Team All-America and Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year honors for the second-straight year in 2013. She is the only player in program history to garner All-America laurels.
Seabrook helped anchor Navy’s backline to one of the best in the nation, holding opponents to a .566 goals-against average, which was 12th best in the country. She also guided the Mids to 14 shutouts in 21 games for the seventh-highest shutout percentage (.667) in Division I.
In 1908:32 total minutes last season, Seabrook played in 1760 minutes on the pitch, which was the most on the team. In the past two seasons, the senior defender has played in 3444:00 of the 3917:02 total minutes, missing just 473:02 minutes.
Seabrook led Navy to a 16-5 record in 2013 and to the Patriot League championship game for the third consecutive year.
Navy will begin its 2014 slate at UMBC on August 22 at 7 p.m.
