Navy Athlete of the Week Presented by Rolls Royce: Paloma Perez, Women's Soccer

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Women's soccer junior forward Paloma Perez (Mobile, Ala.) has been named the Navy Athlete of the Week Presented by Rolls Royce for the week ending August 26. The Naval Academy Athletic Association will be honoring one student-athlete each week from one of its 32 varsity sports during the 2012-13 academic year based on athletic performance.

Perez set a career high with five points in Navy's 6-0 win over USC Upstate last Friday. Perez needed just 15 minutes to score five points, scoring at 3:09 and at 15:01 and also assisting on Ashlynn Soellner's (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) goal in the eighth minute.

For her efforts, Perez also earned her third career Patriot League Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award.

Perez tallied two assists in Navy's 3-2 win over George Mason on Monday and leads the team with eight points (2 goals, 4 assists).

Navy (3-1) has won three straight games and will next play at Jacksonville on Friday at 6:00 PM.
