ANNAPOLIS, Md. - On the strength of a 2-0-0 weekend, the Navy women's soccer team has made its National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Region Poll debut today at No. 10. In addition, the Mids climbed five spots to No. 56 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Tournament 64 Rankings.
After a slow start in the opening weekend of the season, Navy (2-1-1) blanked Mount St. Mary's, 1-0, in its home debut on Friday, before taking down George Mason in overtime, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Ashlynn Soellner scored both game-winners for Navy and was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.
Navy is the only Patriot League team currently ranked in any NSCAA Region Poll and the only team from the PL in the TopDrawerSoccer.com projections.
The Mids will play a challenging game at Texas on Friday night. The Longhorns are currently ranked No. 6 in the NSCAA Central Region Rankings and are No. 34 in the TopDrawerSoccer.com projections.
