ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's soccer team recently participated in a community service event at the Annapolis Boys & Girls Club in partnership with Athletes for Hope.

About a dozen members of the team wrote and decorated thank you cards with area youth at the Boys & Girls Club to mail to American servicemen and servicewomen stationed around the world in association with the observance of 9/11.

Head coach Carin Gabarra is a member of the Athletes for Hope and the Navy women's soccer team has participated in a number of events through the non-profit organization in recent years.

The Athletes for Hope organization connects current and former professional and Olympics athletes with a variety of community service and philanthropic events.
