ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Three days after kicking off the Patriot League conference portion of its 2017 schedule at Holy Cross, the Navy women's soccer team will play its final non-conference game on Monday with a home matchup with Howard University. The Mids (7-3) and Bison (1-5) are slated for a 7:00 PM start at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility.

On Friday in Worcester, Mass., two second half goals to help the visiting Mids overcome a 1-0 halftime deficit and earn a 2-1 road win versus Holy Cross. Two well struck corner kicks into the box by Baseley McClaskey within the first 15 minutes of the second half found the heads of Meghan Hegarty and Liza Harris to swing the one-goal deficit into a one-goal advantage for the Mids on their way to the victory.

Navy vs. Howard
Monday will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two nearby institutions. Beginning in 1998, the series has seen Navy claim victories in all 10 of matchups. Last year on Oct. 11 in Washington, D.C., the Mids earned a hard fought 2-1 victory over the host Bison. A pair of first half goals by Cat Macklin and Baseley McClaskey spotted Navy a 2-0 lead before Howard tightened the game to a one-goal margin in the 65th minute. For the game, Navy outshot Howard, 13-10 with a 10-6 advantage for shots on goal

That 2016 contest marked the first career victory for goalkeeper Sydney Fortson.
