Navy senior forward Katie Eames scored the 16th goal of her career Saturday at Colgate and stands tied for eighth on Navy's all-time goals scored leader board.

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate freshman forward Franny Iacuzzi scored a pair of goals to help lead the Raiders to a 3-1 victory over the Navy women's soccer team Saturday afternoon at Van Doren Field in Hamilton, N.Y. The Raiders are atop the league standings with a 2-0 record in the Patriot League, while the Midshipmen drop to 0-1 in what was their conference opener.

Iacuzzi, who now owns nine goals on the year, gave Colgate an early lead when fellow forward Kelly Kuss threw the ball in and Iacuzzi connected in the fifth minute of the game.

Just five minutes later, Navy knotted the score at one apiece when senior Katie Eames (El Cerrito, Calif.) nailed a shot off a corner kick by Sarah Hessinger (Oceanside, Calif.) at the 9:27 mark. Eames' goal was the 16th of her career, moving her into a tie with Kara Hardebeck (1999-02) for eighth on the Mids' career goals scored chart.

Colgate took the lead for good in the 30th minute when a corner kick taken by the Raiders' Kelly Niland appeared to be wrapped up by Navy goalkeeper Kim Bonafede (Burke, Va.). Bonafede snatched the ball out of the air, but dropped it and as it fell, the ball ricocheted off Carolyn Warhaftig's shoulder into the net for the Colgate game winner.

Iacuzzi added an insurance goal for the Raiders in the 77th minute, her second score of the game.

Navy continued to feel the woes of Van Doren Field, dropping its eighth game in nine contests against Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y. Colgate, who snapped a three-game losing skid to the Mids, now lead the series, 11-5-1.

The Mids will have little time to rest as they play host to Saint Joseph's Monday night at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility in Annapolis. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
