Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After helping the Navy women's soccer team (13-1, 1-0 PL) to a 3-0 week, sophomore forward Morgan Dankanich (Glenmoore, Pa.) earned a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week and was named the Patriot League BRINE Offensive Player of the Week.

Dankanich scored a goal in each of Navy's three wins last week to extend her season total to nine goals and 21 points. Dankanich scored the game-winning goal in Navy's 1-0 victory over American in its Patriot League opener on Friday.

The sophomore striker had a goal and an assist in Navy's 3-0 win over Howard last Monday and scored in Navy's 5-0 victory over Mount St. Mary's on Sunday for seven points on the week. Dankanich scored her three goals on just four shots.

Dankanich has scored six goals in just 10 career games against Patriot League opponents.

This is Dankanich's first national team honor and third career Patriot League weekly accolade.

Sophomore Julie Schumacher (Plantation, Fla.) was tabbed as the Patriot League BRINE Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Schumacher helped Navy post three shutouts last week and the team has six clean sheets on the season. Schumacher started all three games as an outside back and played a team-best 207 minutes last week.

The defender also helped out on the offensive end, registering assists on freshman Kaylie Davidson's (Oceanside, Calif.) game-winning goal against Howard and on junior Taylor Batye's (Tampa, Fla.) game-winning goal against Mount St. Mary's.

Schumacher has seven assists on the season, a total that ranks second in the Patriot League behind only teammate Paloma Perez's (Mobile, Ala.) eight helpers.

Navy extended the nation's longest active winning streak to 13 games with its three wins last week and the team closed September with a perfect 9-0-0 record in the month.

Navy leads the Patriot League in both scoring offense (3.00 goals/game) and scoring defense (1.00 goals allowed/game).

The Mids remain at No. 4 in this week's NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region rankings and also improve to No. 44 in the Top Drawer Soccer Tournament 64 rankings.

Navy will host Lafayette on Friday at 7:00 PM.
