Patriot League All-Academic Release

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Junior forward Brittany Fruin (McLean, Va.) has been named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team, the league office announced Wednesday. Fruin is the first Midshipmen to be named to the league's all-academic list, which began in 2010.

Fruin has registered three goals and three assists for nine points, ranking third on the team in scoring. Fruin scored one of team's biggest goals of the season, the game-tying strike in Navy's come-from-behind, 3-2, win over Army to capture the N-Star. Fruin posted a goal and an assist against Bryant to match her career-high of three points and also scored in the Mids' win over Texas State.

In the classroom, Fruin maintains a 3.46 GPA and has a perfect 4.0 GPA in classes in her oceanography (honors) major. She has been selected to the Dean's List in each of the past two semesters and has been chosen to the Commandant's List three times. Fruin was chosen to the 2010 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Additionally, Fruin is a member of the Naval Academy's Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention and Education (SHAPE) program and is her company's SHAPE representative.

Navy has a strong tradition of academic success in women's soccer. The program has had 11 selections to CoSIDA Academic All-America teams, including Beth Reed ('10), the 2009 Academic All-American of the Year.

Navy (12-5-3, 4-2-1 PL) is gearing up to take on Lafayette in the Patriot League semifinals on Friday at 8:00 PM in Hamilton, N.Y.
