ANNAPOLIS, Md. -
Junior forward Brittany Fruin (McLean, Va.) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II Second Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Friday. Earlier this week, Fruin was selected to the Patriot League All-Academic Team.
Fruin is the 13th Midshipmen to earn Academic All-District honors from CoSIDA since 1997.
The junior forward ranks third on the team in scoring this season with nine points, as she has tallied three goals and three assists. Fruin's second-half goal against Army helped Navy fight back from a 2-0 deficit to post a 3-2 win over their rivals and win the N-Star.
Fruin matched a career-high three-point performance with a goal and an assist in Navy's win over Texas State.
Fruin is an oceanography (honors) major who carries a 3.46 cumulative GPA. She also has a perfect 4.0 GPA in classes in her major. She has been selected to the Dean's List in each of the past two semesters and has been chosen to the Commandant's List three times. Fruin was chosen to the 2010 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Additionally, Fruin is a member of the Naval Academy's Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention and Education (SHAPE) program and is her company's SHAPE representative.
Navy (12-5-3, 4-2-1 PL) will play Lafayette in the Patriot League semifinals tonight (Friday) at 8:00 PM in Hamilton, N.Y.
