LEWISBURG, Pa. - Members of the Navy women's swimming and diving team recorded seven victories Saturday at the Bison Invitational that was held at Bucknell's Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa.
"Today was a nice opportunity for us to swim at Bucknell, where the league championship will be held," said Navy women's swimming head coach John Morrison. "Everyone had many opportunities to race in their third, fourth and fifth events. Overall, we are pleased with the team effort we saw in and out of the pool. We are looking to bring these same experiences to the championship meet."
Konnor Rist (Fr., Louisville, Ky.) picked up the first win of the day for the Mids with a 59.24 to win the 100 backstroke over the second-place time of 59.58 that was recorded by teammate Rachael Dudley (Fr., Hoschton, Ga.).
Laura Gorinski (Sr., Greensburg, Pa.) then touched the wall in a time of 1:05.41 to win the 100 breaststroke by two-tenths of a second. Emily Brown (Fr., Gainesville, Fla.) was the next Navy swimmer to emerge from the pool with a win as her time of 53.41 gave her the victory in the 100 free by one-hundredth of a second over Delaware's Brittany Lazear.
The second half of the meet began with Navy teams placing first (1:48.99), second (1:51.27) and third (1:52.13) in the 200 medley relay.
Rist would sweep the backstroke events on the day as her time of 2:08.97 gave her the victory in the 200 backstroke. Katie Young (Fr., Roanoke, Va.) followed with a time of 2:33.66 to win the 200 breaststroke race.
