ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The Navy women’s swimming and diving team will close its dual-meet season Saturday when the Mids play host to Yale at 11 a.m. in Lejeune Hall. The Mids have posted an 8-2 record in dual meets this year and the Bulldogs head into a Friday meet at Seton Hall with a 7-0 record this season and a 27-meet winning streak.

Navy suffered its first losses of the season last week when the Mids dropped meets in Chapel Hill, N.C., to No. 21 North Carolina (215-80) and Penn State (181-118).

“Coach Jim Henry and his staff have done an amazing job with the Yale team,” said Navy women’s swimming head coach John Morrison. “They quickly moved from the middle of the pack in the Ivy League to winning their championship last year. We are looking forward to competing in Lejeune Hall for the first time in 2018. This also will mark the final dual meet for the great Class of 2018. Our team will need to continue to improve on the lessons learned last week and bring the excitement and emotion of competing at home for our seniors to challenge this fine Yale squad. There is no doubt that this will be an exciting dual meet.”

Yale’s lengthy winning streak dates back to January 2016. Along the way, the Bulldogs placed second at the 2016 Ivy League Championship and first at last year’s league meet.

Navy and Yale last met in January 2011 when the Mids defeated the Bulldogs, 161-139. That was Navy’s third win over Yale in a three-year span, but that run of success for the Mids was preceded by four victories in four years by the Bulldogs. Yale leads the all-time series by the count of 6-3.

Navy will hold its Senior Day ceremony starting at 10:50 a.m., during which the team will recognize the program’s Class of 2018: Gus Garies (Bonner Springs, Kan.), Biz Graeff (Canton, Ohio), Alex Hoiles (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Molly Kuenstler (Villa Park, Ill.), Kaitlyn O’Reilly (Farmington, Minn.), Emily Ranzau (Johns Creek, Ga.) and Jenny Smith (Columbus, Ohio).
