CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Laura Gorinski (Sr., Greensburg, Pa.) and Ben Freedman (Jr., Kennewick, Wash.) received weekly accolades from the Patriot League on Monday. Gorinski was tabbed as the league's women's swimmer of the week, while Freedman garnered the men's diver-of-the-week laurel.

Gorinski and Freedman received their awards based upon their respective performances during Navy's meet at nationally-ranked Penn State Saturday.

Gorinski won the 200 individual medley by nearly three-tenths of a second (2:07.62) to improve to 5-0 in the event during the dual meet campaign. She also placed second in both breaststroke events (1:04.54, 2:18.06) contested on the day, with her loss in the 100 breast coming by just three-hundredths of a second.

With Monday's nod, Gorinski breaks the Patriot League record for the most weekly awards garnered by any swimmer -- either male or female -- in a career since it was established during the 2002-03 campaign. She has now received the laurel 17 times in her career, which betters the previous standard of 16 set by Navy's Tara Chapmon from 2007-10. Gorinski also has earned the accolade six times this season, which is one shy of tying Champon's single-season record of seven that she set in her final year on The Yard.

Freedman won both boards for the third time this season. He posted a score of 314.62 to win the one meter by 22.20 points before accruing 353.55 points to win the three meter by 54.83 points. He has now totaled eight victories during the 2012-13 season.

Freedman's accolade was his fourth this season and the ninth of his career.
