Hawley Wins ECAC 200 IM Again
Links associated with this release: SEWELL, N.J. - Melissa Hawley set a new meet record in winning the 200 individual medley and helped Navy to a fifth-place showing after day one of the Eastern College Athletic Conference swimming and diving championship, being held this weekend in Sewell, N.J. Hawley (Jr., Brentwood, Tenn.) won the 200 IM for the third-straight year with a time of 2:04.67. Last weekend, Hawley captured her third-consecutive 200 IM Patriot League title. Navy's 200 freestyle relay team of team captain Erin Emery (Sr., San Antonio, Texas), Katie Costello (So., Lynbrook, N.Y.), Rebecca Gordon (Fr., Coral Springs, Fla.) and Hawley placed fifth and set a new Navy record in the event with a time of 1:37.94. Other Navy finalists on the day included Emery placing fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:03.38), Gordon finishing in 10th place in the 50 freestyle (24.72), and the 400 medley relay team of Brenna Schnars (So., Williamsport, Pa.), Allison Moon (Bradenton, Fla.), Hawley and Gordon placing seventh (3:59.32). Navy totaled 93 points on day one of the three-day competition. The Midshipmen trail East Carolina (146), Central Connecticut (145), UMBC (130) and Boston College (123.5).
