Navy Swimming Places Sixth at ECAC Meet

SEWELL, N.J. -- The Navy women's swimming and diving team finished in sixth place at the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship, held this weekend in Sewell, N.J. Navy totaled 273.5 points in the three-day, 33-team competition.

Melissa Hawley (Jr., Brentwood, Tenn.) highlighted Navy's final day at the championship by placing third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.61. Team captain Erin Emery (Sr., San Antonio, Texas), concluded her Navy career with a ninth-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a posting of 53.26. Navy's 400 freestyle relay team of Katie Costello (So., Lynbrook, N.Y.), Rebecca Gordon (Fr., Coral Springs, Fla.), Emery and Hawley finished in fourth place with a clocking of 3:32.32.

In Friday's events, Katie Ball (Jr., Millersville, Md.) placed fifth in the 100 backstroke, while Navy finished fourth in the 800 freestyle relay and fifth in the 200 medley relay.
