July 23, 2013

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) recently recognized six members of the Navy swimming program as Honorable Mention Scholar All-Americans for their respective achievements in the classroom and in the pool.

The six Mids who earned the laurel were recent graduates Laura Gorinski (Greensburg, Pa.), Ben Bondurant (Atlanta, Ga.), Joseph Stark (Erie, Pa.) and Justin Vagts (Crofton, Md.), along with rising seniors Lauren Baguley (Hudsonville, Mich.) and Hugh Davison (Towson, Md.).

The Honorable Mention Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester or cumulative average, along with attaining an NCAA "B" time standard but did not qualify to compete in their respective national championship.

Gorinski earned three honorable mention accolades and one first-team honor (for posting at least a 3.5 GPA and competing at the NCAA Championship meet) in her four years, while both Bondurant and Vagts received the award for a second-straight year. This season marked the first time Baguley, Stark and Davison each received the laurel.
