CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams were tabbed by the Patriot League's head coaches and sports information contacts for the sport to sweep the titles at the 2014 league meet, according to the results of the pre-season poll announced recently by the league office.

The Navy men's program has won each of the 10 league crowns it has vied for, while the Navy women's team has won back-to-back, three of the last four and a league-best 12 first-place trophies in all.

The 2014 championship meet will be held Feb. 19-22 in Navy's Lejeune Hall.

Both Navy teams garnered 16 first-place nods in the respective voting. Voters were unable to cast ballots for their own school, so the most first-place votes a team could receive was 18.

On the women's side, Navy's 160 total points allowed the Mids to finish 20 points ahead of second-place Boston University. The Terriers, who are competing in their inaugural season in the Patriot League after winning a trio of America East titles between 2009 and 2012, received the remaining four first-place votes on their way to tallying 140 points in all.

Bucknell, which placed second to Navy at the 2013 league meet, accrued 127 points to place third in the pre-season poll. Also tallying over 100 points in the voting were fourth-place Colgate (113) and fifth-place Army (101). The second half of the results saw Lehigh in sixth place (77), newcomer Loyola in seventh (76), Lafayette in eighth (49), American in ninth (39) and Holy Cross in 10th (18).

The Navy men matched the point total of the school's women's team as it too amassed 160 points. The remaining four first-place votes were received by second-place Boston University (three, 141 points in all) and Army (one, 137). The Terriers won the 2012 America East title while the Black Knights were the runner-up to the Mids at the 2013 Patriot League Championship.

Army was followed by Bucknell in fourth place (110) and Lehigh in fifth place (100). Loyola's 68 points led the second half of the results. The Greyhounds were followed by American in seventh place (60), Colgate in eighth (57), Lafayette in ninth (49) and Holy Cross in 10th (18).

Neither Boston University team was allowed to contend for 2013 America East titles due to the school previously committing to leaving the conference at the end of the 2012-13 academic year.
