CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Mark Meyer (Sr., Bethesda, Md.), Laura Gorinski (Jr., Greensburg, Pa.) and Courtney Vandament (Sr., Coppell, Texas) all garnered weekly awards from the Patriot League on Monday. Meyer and Gorinski were named as the league's swimmers of the week, while Vandament earned the women's diver-of-the-week laurel.
Each of the three Mids received their respective awards for their performances in Navy's sweep of American, Bucknell and Lafayette this past weekend in Lejeune Hall.
Meyer won the two butterfly events against the Eagles, Bison and Leopards. He remained undefeated through seven races this season in the 200 fly with a winning long-course meters time of 2:06.77 and won his first 100 fly race of the season with a winning clocking of 57.99. Meyer also was a member of Navy's second-place finishing 400 freestyle relay team.
Gorinski won both breaststroke races and the 200 individual medley event during the meet to give her 16 wins (and two second-place finishes) in 21 individual event races this fall. Her time of 1:14.29 in the 100 breast gave her the win by 3.28 seconds, she won the 200 breast by 5.71 seconds with a time of 2:40.61 and her clocking of 2:26.84 in the 200 IM provided her a 4.19 second margin of victory. Gorinski opened the meet by swimming the breaststroke leg on Navy's victorious 400 medley relay squad.
Vandament placed second overall on both diving boards on the afternoon. She tallied 229.45 points on the one meter and 256.25 points on the three meter.
