CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- Navy's Ben Freedman (Sr., Kennewick, Wash.) and Ellen Bradford (So., Knoxville, Tenn.) received accolades from the Patriot League on Monday. Freedman was tabbed as the league's men's diver of the week, while Bradford was named the women's swimmer of the week.
Freedman swept both boards during Navy's meet on Saturday against American, Bucknell and Lafayette. He posted a score of 314.30 to win the one meter by 23.20 points and accrued 334.80 points to win the three-meter competition by 27.50 points.
While this was the 11th weekly nod garnered by Freedman in bis career, Bradford picked up the second award of her career. She began Navy's meet against the Eagles, Bison and Leopards by helping the Mids win the 200 medley relay race. Bradford then swept the two breaststroke events, recording a time of 1:06.43 to win the 100 breast and a 2:22.35 to win the 200 breast. Her two individual event wins were by a combined two seconds.
The Navy swimming and diving teams will return to competition Nov. 21-23 when the Mids participate in the Nike Cup on the North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill, N.C.
