ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's tennis team improved on its program-record start as it upped its season mark to 4-0 on Saturday by defeating Villanova, 7-0, at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis. The dominant Mids didn't drop a set as they won the first of their two matches this weekend.

"I really liked the way we competed today - it was a great team effort," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "Our doubles continue to improve. Emani and Stef played great doubles today and everyone else looked good as well. We are now looking towards our impending match with George Mason."

Like the team, four Mids also improved their records to 4-0 in singles play on Saturday as Emani Decquir, Stefanie Ton, Erin Snook and Gabby Winter were all victorious.

Decquir used a pair of 6-3 wins over Allison Solberg at No. 2 singles, while Winter also scored a pair of identical victories in defeating Kate Pattee, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. Ton and Snook lost just a combined five games at the No. 3 and 4 singles slots, respectively. Ton defeated Sydney West, 6-1, 6-2, while Snook held off the Wildcats' Amanda Nelson, 6-1, 6-0.

Abby Shewalter, who also entered the day undefeated at No. 6 singles, upped her season record to 3-0 by defeating Alexandra Harding, 6-2, 6-1.

After taking the first set, 7-5, sophomore Darien Sears cruised to a 6-0 win in the second set over Mikelle Mancini to pick up the point at No. 1 singles.

Sears and her partner Shewalter were also victorious in doubles play, defeating Anne Cognetti and Wesleigh Donadio, 8-2, at No. 3 doubles.

The tandem of Snook and Noelle Kaufmann remained unbeaten on the season in doubles as they went to 4-0 by downing Allison Solberg and Kristin Gobberg, 8-4. Navy's top pairing of Decquir and Ton defeated Mancini and West handily, 8-2, at No. 1 doubles.

The Mids will look to extend their undefeated start on Sunday when they host George Mason at 11 a.m. at the Tose Family Tennis Center.
