ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy women's tennis team won all three doubles matches, then won five-of-six singles matches to ease past Towson, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center.

The win improves Navy's record to 5-2 on the season.

"I was extremely pleased with today's match. I thought we played very composed," said Navy head coach Keith Puryear. "We had great performances all around in doubles play. All three teams were extremely sharp. I was particularly impressed with Julie (Dias) and Lindsay (Olsen) at No. 3 doubles."

The Mids won all three doubles matches by allowing just 12 games. Freshmen Dye Das and Stefanie Ton won the first match of the day at No. 2 doubles, 8-2, over Beth Daub and Katy Young.

Emani Decquir and Brittney Boucher then clinched the doubles point at No. 1 doubles, with an 8-4 triumph over Lauren Cloonan and Andrea Samlin. The Mids closed out the doubles sweep at No. 3 doubles, when Lindsay Olsen and Julie Dias topped Kaitlin White and Aandria Carr, 8-6.

After dropping the first singles match at No. 3 singles to tie the score at one each, Navy won the next five matches for its fifth victory of the spring.

Das got the ball rolling for Navy at No. 4 singles with a 6-2, 6-0, decision over Cassandra Ng. Freshman Natalie Houle then added to the Navy advantage with a 6-0, 6-1, triumph over Katy Young at No. 5 singles.

Decquir then clinched the match for Navy at No. 1 singles, with a 6-4, 6-3, victory over Lauren Cloonan. Cloonan had defeated Decquir in the Bill & Sandra Moore Invitational in late September during the fall season.

Olsen (7-6, 2-6, 1-0 [10-8]) at No. 6 singles and Brittney Boucher (4-6, 6-4, 6-4) at No. 2 singles also claimed victories for the final margin.

"Most of the matches in singles were really good battles. Towson looked to come back strong after losing the doubles point, but we did a great job of keeping the match momentum in our favor," said Puryear. "I really think we are continuing to grow as a team."

Navy will host Big East member Providence next Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Tose Family Tennis Center in Annapolis.
