EASTON, Pa. -- The Navy women's tennis team dominated at every position on Saturday, en route to a 7-0 sweep over Lafayette in Easton, Pa.
The win improves Navy's record to 21-4 overall and to 3-1 in the Patriot League. With two regular-season matches left against Lehigh (Sunday) and Loyola, Md., (April 18), Navy needs just one more win to tie the school record for victories in a season with 22, set in 2011.
The Midshipmen allowed Lafayette to win just 13 combined games in the nine contested matches.
Navy wasted little time in sweeping the doubles point, winning all three matches for a 1-0 match lead. Noelle Kaufmann (So. / Westlake, Ohio) and Erin Snook (Jr. / Tampa, Fla.) scored an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles and Logan Antill (Fr. / Butler, Pa.) and Darien Sears (Jr. / Silver Spring, Md.) won at No. 3 doubles by an 8-1 tally to give Navy a 1-0 match lead and win the doubles point. Emani Decquir (Sr. / Sacramento, Calif.) and Sam Droop (Fr. / Hilton Head Island, S.C.) completed the sweep at No. 2 doubles by an 8-2 margin.
Navy again wasted no time in disposing of Lafayette in singles play, as the most games Lafayette won in a match was four. Decquir won her 19th match of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. The 19 wins are now tied for the eighth most in a season in school history.
Erin Snook won by a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles for her 21st win of the season and sixth win in a row. Snook's 21 wins move her into sixth place on the single-season victories list.
Darien Sears cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at No. 3 singles for her 16th win of the year while pushing her dual-meet record to 12-5.
took a 6-1, 6-3 decision at No. 4 singles for her team-best 22nd win of the year. Combined with her doubles win, Antill is now the school-record holder for combined wins in a season with 43 (22 singles, 21 doubles).
Stefanie Ton (Sr. / Milpitas, Calif.) won her 18th match of the season and improved to 12-5 in dual-meet action with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles. Ton now has a 62-41 career record.
Lastly, Katie Porter (Fr. / Matthews, N.C.) improved to 13-3 overall and in dual-meet play with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Porter has won six of her last seven matches.
